Diablo Cody Will Tame the Shrew

In a long article about the future of DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg's future projects, Variety accidentally reported that Diablo Cody was writing up a modern take on Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew".  I say "accidentally" because it is news and any other site, had they discovered this, would lead with it.  But because a studio didn't send it to them in press-release-form, other sites actually have to tap Variety on the shoulder and say, "Hey, this bit here?  Yeah, that's a story."

So is this Cody's next project?  "Jennifer's Body" is basically finished and I don't know how much writing Cody is doing for "The United States of Tara" beyond its pilot (which you really should watch, by the way, either online or when it airs this Sunday).  I follow Diablo Cody on Twitter but she has tweeted me nothing about this!  How am I supposed to do the news without her giving me information in 140-character portions?

You may remember that a modern take on "The Taming of the Shrew" was released about ten years ago as "10 Things I Hate About You", a flick geared towards teens but still quite solid.  On some level, it is kind of hard to fuck up Shakespeare.  I'm definitely excited to see Cody's spin on the Bard.
