We have six clips from Coraline today and thankfully, none of them give away how much the film is going to creep you out. They give you a sense of the gorgeous animation, the solid voice work, and the general style of the film, but almost none of them are from the film's second half where "Coraline" really establishes itself as a movie that's going to traumatize your kids (but in a good way--I'll explain in greater depth next week when my review runs).
In the meantime, enjoy these six clips and be on the lookout for Cal's exclusive interview with Neil Gaiman, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and if you haven't seen it already, check out Steve and Erico's interview with director Henry Selick.
For those just tuning in, here's a brief synopsis:
Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is bored in her new home until she finds a secret door and discovers an alternate version of her life on the other side. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life and the people in it – only much better. But when this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, and her other parents (including her Other Mother voiced by Teri Hatcher) try to trap her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to escape this increasingly perilous world – and save her family.
"Coraline" hits theatres on February 6th.
