It would appear that people who thought Kenneth Branagh was a bit too intellectual to grasp the pedestrian milieu of the comic book film were dead wrong.  Not only does Branagh totally "get it", according to Marvel Editor-in chief Joe Quesaeda, but recent meetings between Branagh, Marvel and execs at Warners would indicate that he has become quite the "Thor" fanboy in recent months.

For an example of just how much thought Branagh and his team are putting into adapting "Thor", check out the casting notice that Coming Attractions has posted out for the title character.

Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20'S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.

Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and severely humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature hero of our film.

Not only do we now know that Brad Pitt never had a shot – without that magic Fincher technology the guy is just not going to pull off mid-late 20s anymore – but we also get a nice breakdown of the character arc experienced by Thor in Branagh's vision.  They could have just thrown up something like "Must be mid-late 20's and know how to swing a hammer" but no… Branagh even has the word 'petulant' in there.  You can't deny the man has style…

To hope that "Thor" avoids those "Iron Man 2" casting pitfalls click here
