Video Blog: TERMINATOR SALVATION Set Visit

Peter from Slashfilm is a really good friend of mine. At least a few times a week we talk about upcoming movies, TV shows, what gossip each of us have heard, and a million other things.

Since a number of our conversations cover things you also might find interesting, we’ve started recording some of them as video blogs. Perhaps you already saw our video blog on Pixar’s “Up”, what we thought “Watchmen” would make opening weekend, or what we think will happen with future “Batman” movies.

Anyway, it’s time for a new one and it’s about our adventures on the set of “Terminator Salvation”.

Last July, a number of online journalists were invited to the set of director McG’s “Terminator” movie. Since Peter and I were both on the same set visit, we decided rather than write up an extensive article, we’d talk about what we did and saw in one of our video blogs.

Here’s some of the things we talked about:

·         What set visits are really like

·         Shooting in New Mexico

·         Where we went in Albuquerque and an overview of what we saw

·         The war room and production design central

·         The different sets ranging from the 7/11 to a Terminator Factory

·         Conner’s headquarters

·         The T-100’s and the other models

·         The Silo interrogation scene

·         Stan Winston’s truck

·         McG’s airstream trailer

·         Seeing footage on set

·         Interviews with the cast

·         Watching Christian Bale fight a Terminator

·         What we thought after being there

However, since a lot of you won’t have the time to watch the entire conversation, we’re also offering it as audio files so you could listen on an iPod. Here’s part one as an MP3, and here’s part 2.

And one last thing before getting to the videos.

When I went to New Mexico last year for this set visit, I wasn’t sure what to expect from McG and his take on “Terminator”. While I went there nervous, I left blown away by what I saw and what everyone involved in the production said. It was after the set visit that I knew McG could handle the material. What I’m trying to say is, if you aren’t looking forward to “Terminator Salvation”, you should be.

Finally, the first press screening is late this week, so we’ll all know soon enough if the movie delivered the goods. Until then…here’s Peter and I and our newest video blog. And I’ve joined the ever growing world of Twitter.
