SOURCE VARIETY

Michael Cera ("Superbad") will star in Dimension's teen comedy "Youth in Revolt," a co-production of Permut Presentations and Shangri-La Entertainment.

David Permut will produce. Permut Presentations VP of production Steve Longi will co-produce along with Miranda Freiberg.

Gustin Nash script is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by C.D. Payne. Story revolves around the adventures of a teenager who meets the girl of his dreams while on a family vacation and turns his life upside down in order to be with her.

Payne self-published the novel in 1993. Book, centered on a cynical and sex-obsessed 14-year-old, became an underground success, and he wrote three sequels. Permut acquired feature rights in 2003 and originally set up the project with Artisan.

Cera starred on "Arrested Development" and will star in "Juno" for Fox Searchlight, premiering at the Toronto Film Festival. He was recently cast with Jack Black in "The Year One" and launched a Web-based series, "Clark & Michael," about his life in Hollywood.

Permut has completed teen comedy "Charlie Bartlett," also penned by Nash and set for release by MGM. Permut's also producing "Local Color," "Without a Badge" and "Brother Sam."
