xXx Again: Vin Diesel Is In For A Second Sequel

Though Vin Diesel would like to believe that he is a "multi-faceted" performer, I'm still only seeing the one facet… maybe I'm just not looking hard enough? To whit, and in a dramatic departure from his previous roles, Diesel has agreed to take on… one of his previous roles. He will return as extreme sporter/super-spy Xander Cage in the next "xXx" film which has been dubbed "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage."

You may recall that after the first "xXx" did over 100 million at the box-office, Diesel turned down the lead in the sequel "xXx: State of the Union." Maybe he thought his career was going so well that he didn't need to bother with sequels, maybe he didn't want to return without director Rob Cohen or maybe he was smart enough to recognize that the script for "State" sucked – Personally, I believe he just wanted the time to really nail down his role in "The Pacifier."

Six years later, no such constraints will prevent Vin from slipping back onto Xander Cage's snowboard. First of all, no one could argue that Diesel's career is going well. I give you "Babylon AD" as proof. Next, Variety reports that Columbia has also wooed director Rob Cohen back for the third "xXx," and thank God! Only that man's vision could pull off a three-quel about a guy forced to thwart Russian spies with only bungee cords and attitude! And finally, there IS no script – and therefore, no script for Vin to object to… how convenient.
