I’ve seen “Star Trek” twice. I saw a screening so I could cover the press day, and I also went to the premiere last night. So what did I learn after watching it a second time? It actually got better.
Since I’m not going to spoil it for any of you, all I want to say is….
If you were nervous about the cast, don’t be. If you thought J.J. Abrams is just a TV director…he’s stepped up his game to the next level. And if you were somehow thinking Paramount was going to nickel and dime the franchise like they’ve done in the past, the special effects in this film are going to shock you.
Simply put, “Star Trek” has opened the summer movie season with a huge home run and I don’t know how anyone will be disappointed.
Anyway, at the Los Angeles press junket I got to speak with the entire cast and the filmmakers. Starting today I’ll be posting a new video interview everyday for the next week. If you’re looking forward to “Star Trek”, you’re going to love these interviews.
So up first is Eric Bana who plays Captain Nero in the film. During our time we talked about how he prepared to play the role, what this summer is going to be like for him as he’s got a few movies coming out, and a lot more.
But the best part of the interview was getting to ask Eric a question from Simon Pegg.
The thing to know is I’m friends with Simon. To try and mix it up a little bit and not ask the same old questions, I asked him to supply me with a few things to ask each cast member that they might not expect. Curious what I asked? Take a look below.
“Star Trek” warps into our galaxy next weekend. Don’t miss it.
· Is it nice to finally be able to talk about the movie
· Simon Pegg’s question
· I ask what 2009 is going to be like for him with Star Trek. Funny People and Time Travelers Wife
· Was he always a sci-fi fan
· How did J.J. ask him to prepare for the role
· Lots of easter eggs in the film, did he recognize any of them
· Where did he see the film and what did he think
