Evan Rachel Wood leads Strange Magic voicing Marianne, the princess of the Fairy Kingdom.  When things go awry the day of her wedding, Marianne swears off love and declares that she’s better off alone despite her family’s insistence that she find someone to rule beside her.  Meanwhile, in the Dark Forest, Alan Cumming’s Bog King is having some romance issues of his own.  His mother (voiced by Maya Rudolph) is pressuring him to find “the one,” but he’s not having it and demands that all the primroses in the land be destroyed so that no one can have any love potion.

This “madcap musical” is unique to say the least, and Wood and Cumming instantly took to the movie’s unusual spin on familiar, classic love stories.  Hit the jump to hear what they had to say about that, what it’s like doing voice work for action sequences, Wood’s thoughts on the upcoming HBO show Westworld and more.  Strange Magic is now in theaters.

Evan Rachel Wood & Alan Cumming:

  • Their first impression of the Strange Magic script.
  • The big changes made for one key character.
  • Cumming on nailing both sides of The Bog King while still making him feel like the same character.
  • Doing the awkward voice work required for action sequences.
  • Wood on HBO’s Westworld.
