Green Band Trailer for EVIL DEAD Remake

     January 20, 2013

The first green band trailer for director Fede Alvarez’s upcoming Evil Dead remake has been released online.  We’ve previously seen two red band trailers, but this clip gives us a look at some new, less blood-filled footage.  As we’re very much aware, the new Evil Dead is not holding back in the gore department so it’s interesting to see how much footage is “green band safe.”

Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and click here to read Steve’s set visit.  The film stars Jane Levy, Shiloh FernandezElizabeth BlackmoreLou Taylor Pucci, and Jessica Lucas.  Evil Dead opens on April 12th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Evil Dead:

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin.  When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

ugh. the idiotic senseless talentless remake fad (is it a fad after almost 20 years?) as finally arrived to my favorite horror movie. another piece of generic gore porn trash.

I think this looks great. I’m not one to shit on a movie simply because it’s a remake. As long as it’s well executed and entertaining who cares what the source material is. Rob Zombie’s second Halloween flick was original and very cool. Was it iconic? Of course not, but I was entertained. Some of the most game changing flicks ever now appear dated (through no fault of their own) and if you expect the current generation to find Alien, The Exorcist or Evil Dead scary, it’s just not going to happen.
The best example of this was The Karate Kid remake. I thought it was a terrible idea but upon watching it I realized that this new movie would speak to kids much more than Ralph Macchio being terrorized by feathered hair dirt bike riders while listening to Bananarama. So kudos to Sam Raimi for embracing the remake of his classic. Can’t wait to see it.

Except for that the new Karate Kid remake sucked hard. It might have spoken to kids more if the run time wasn’t over 2 hours. People still talk about the original. Do you think in 20 years anyone will be talking about the Kung Fu kid? It’s completely forgettable. And I would take the dated original Halloween over Rob Zombie’s bastardized version any day. Alien, the Exorcist, and the original Evil Dead are still scary. What crop of todays movie would you say are scarier? Final Destination, Saw, or Hostel?
