The cast for director David Koepp’s (Premium Rush) crime drama Mortdecai is coming together rather quickly. Johnny Depp signed on to star in the adaptation of author Kyril Bonfiglioli’s novels just a couple of weeks ago, and now Variety reports that Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth Paltrow are in talks to join the cast. Depp plays an antihero art dealer who finds himself in “a race to recover a stole painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.” No word on which characters McGregor or Paltrow would play in the Lionsgate pic, but they are in line to co-star. Filming is looking to get underway later this year after Depp wraps the musical Into the Woods.

Additionally, THR reports that Abigail Breslin is set to co-star in the zombie pic Maggie with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The story centers on a father whose daughter has been infected and is slowly turning into a member of the undead. Chloe Grace Moretz was at one point in line to play the young girl, but now Breslin has signed on to tackle the part. Commercial director Henry Hobson is at the helm, and production is looking to start in the fall.
Breslin will be seen later this year opposite Asa Butterfield in the sci-fi adaptation Ender’s Game and also in the intense family drama August: Osage County, which is a surefire awards contender for The Weinstein Company.
