A few hours ago I was standing on the red carpet in front of the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood. I was there to cover a special screening of “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”. While it wasn’t an official premiere, it felt like one, as there were press everywhere and thousands of screaming fans.
Anyway, I managed to get tons of video interviews and the one you’re about to watch is with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. During the interview, Adewale talks about playing Heavy Duty in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”, his desire to play Black Panther, and I ask if he’d be willing to do an episode of “Lost” in its final season. Watch what he said after the jump:
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
- How much fun did he have playing Heavy Duty
- Working for Stephen Sommers
- Black Panther talk – says it’s always been a dream for him to play this character
- Says he is sitting down with Marvel to talk about the film
- What’s his take on Black Panther
- Lost talk – I ask if they called him to do an episode this season would he do it
- He says he’d like to give something back to the Lost fans…

Nah, I’d rather Djimon Hounsou as The Black Panther,he has a lot of range,is an acclaimed actor and convey a lot of emotion. Adewale is a good actor but he seems more suitable for for maybe The Black Panther’s villain.

I’ve been a fan of Adewale since “Oz”, but never felt love for him until Mr. Eko. That role single-handedly showed such a range of emotion that one of the main reasons I saw “GI Joe” was to see him, (I also have a 5 year old son who wouldn’t shut up about seeing it… and btw, despite the reviews, I thought it was fantastic. I immediately went up into the attic and had a huge cross toy war between my old Joe figures, 3 of the 4 TMNT’s, a handful of lego men, and Skeletor. Needless to say, Heavy Duty played a big role in the mishmash collection of heroes overthrowing the ole’ bag o’ bones.
Point being, Adewale want’s to play the Black Panther, I say let him.. otherwise you might find yourself on the business end of Mr. Eko’s “Bible Thumper”!
