With “Battlestar Galactica: The Plan” hitting DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow, Captain Adama himself Edward James Olmos (who also directed the film) did a bunch of interviews earlier today. Thankfully, I was offered a spot and just an hour ago I was sitting in a room in Studio City talking about “The Plan”. While we talked about how he got involved and the normal stuff, I did find out some major info if you’re a fan of the series. It seems that if “The Plan” sells 5 million copies, Olmos was told we’d get more straight to DVD “Battlestar Galactica” movies!
But it gets better.
Not only could we be getting more “Battlestar” movies but Olmos told me what some of them could be about! According to Olmos, some of the future movies could be about where the final five Cylons came from and how were they created; what really happened to Starbuck and what she was; or if you want to know what happened after the finale ended you MUST buy “The Plan”. While some fans might not want to see everything explained and others may have soured after finale (although I think the latter group is insane) if you love the “Galactica” universe and want to watch more adventures, you’ve got to buy a DVD or Blu-ray of “The Plan”. And with that, hit the jump to watch me and Olmos talk about “Battlestar Galactica” and the future of the franchise:
And for those not familiar with “The Plan”:
“Battlestar Galatica: The Plan”. The Cylons began as humanity’s robot servants. They rebelled and evolved and now they look like us. Their plan is simple: destroy the race that enslaved them. But when their devastating attack leaves human survivors, the Cylons have to improvise. “Battlestar Galatica: The Plan” tells the story of two powerful Cylon leaders, working separately, and their determination to finish the task.

Here’s Olmos. If you want to see him talk about the future of “Galactica”, it’s the 1:25 mark.

I love how Olmos is unabashed about the whole sell 5 million thing and the potential for Paramount execs seeing that they’re idiots– did he say that?. Who knows if he was supposed to repeat that little tidbit, but I’m glad he did. I’m ready to buy a copy rather than go through regular means.

I CAN’T WAIT!!! I hope the Galactica Universe lives a lot longer than just the new series.

I really love the GAlactica Universe: characters and plot.
But, to me it seems that the main story is told, hard to see how to continue without spoiling it.
As for the finale, well it is touching. But I do think that Lee´s plan to forego technology and star over was very unwise and it´s hard to swallow that everyone would go along with it.
Even so, I still love the show.
So say we all!!!
