Just like every year, this summer brings plenty of movies. While there will be tons of action films featuring mind blowing special effects, one of my most anticipated films features none of the usual summer spectacle. Instead, it’s a film from a writer/director that only makes great movies (Judd Apatow) and the name of his new film is “Funny People”. If you haven’t yet seen the trailer, I suggest watching it here.
All you need to know is Judd has assembled an insane cast featuring Adam Sandler, Seth Rogem, Eric Bana, Leslie Mann, Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, and a ton of other familiar faces. Trust me, this is a film that should be on your radar.
Anyway, at yesterday’s “Monsters vs. Aliens” premiere I got to ask Judd a few questions about how the editing is going and our conversation is below.
As you all know, Judd makes long movies. When I pressed him for the current running time, he was his usual joking self and didn’t exactly give me a real answer. But when the interview ended he did say it’s less than 2 hours 30 minutes.
The other interesting thing he said off camera was that he’s already cut out about 45 minutes from the movie. So if you like extended DVDs or just deleted scenes, I’d imagine “Funny People” is going to be a great home video release.
Anyway, here’s what Judd had to say. And if you’d like to read a great write-up of “A Night of FUNNY PEOPLE”, click here. That’s the night all the actors did stand-up for charity.
