Exclusive – Rob Cohen says xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is gearing up

About a month ago Nicole wrote a great story about Rob Cohen and Vin Diesel agreeing to return to the XXX franchise. If you missed it, click here.

Anyway, in the original article Nicole said they didn’t have a script and no info was known about when the production would be moving forward. Just that Rob and Vin had agreed to return…

But thanks to our partners at Omelete, we’ve got an update to pass on.

Marcelo Hessel (Omelete’s Megan Fox) spoke with director Rob Cohen today and when he asked Rob if Columbia would really do another one with Vin Diesel, Rob said, “Yes, they’re doing it with me and producer Joe Roth. We made the deal recently, it’s named xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. We met the writers yesterday and we’re trying to get into production by late spring, to have it out for the summer of 2010.”

So there you have it… xXx should be back in theaters summer of 2010.

As a fan of Vin’s, I’m hoping that a big summer movie in both 2009 (Fast & Furious) and now 2010 will lead to a sequel to Chronicles Of Riddick. While I’m clearly in the minority for liking that film….I do. Deal with it. If you’ve never seen Pitch Black and Chronicles Of Riddick, you owe yourself a double feature this weekend.

More info on xXx: The Return of Xander Cage as we get it.
