Last week we covered the international press day for âWantedâ as a reporter from the website Omelete.
As most of you know, Collider and Omelete are partners. When we post clips or exclusives, they also post it. When they get stuffâ¦we use it. Theyâre in Portuguese and weâre in English. As Iâve said many timesâ¦itâs a perfect marriage. Also, since theyâre based in San Paolo, when they get invited to do stuff here in Los Angelesâ¦they send me.So while many websites fight over exclusives, weâre examples of how you can work together and both thrive.
Anyway, to help promote the film, we were able to speak with James McAvoy, Thomas Kretschmann and Director Timur Bekmambetov. During the time we were able to talk about making the film, what they have coming up, and a lot more.
Since I was out of town last week, I sent a friend and fellow online writer named Fred Topel to cover the interviews. So a big thanks to him for helping us out!
But before getting to the interviewsâ¦hereâs the synopsis for âWantedâ and hereâs a link to some movie clips in case you missed them.
25-year-old Wes (James McAvoy) was the most disaffected, cube-dwelling drone the planet had ever known. His boss chewed him out hourly, his girlfriend ignored him routinely and his life plodded on interminably. Everyone was certain this disengaged slacker would amount to nothing. There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days anddiein his slow, clock-punching rut.
Until he met a woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie).
After his estranged father is murdered, the deadly sexy Fox recruits Wes into the Fraternity, a secret society that trains Wes to avenge his dadâs death by unlocking his dormant powers. As she teaches him how to develop lightning-quick reflexes and phenomenal agility, Wes discovers this team lives by an ancient, unbreakable code: carry out the death orders given by fate itself.
With wickedly brilliant tutorsâincluding the Fraternityâs enigmatic leader, Sloan (Morgan Freeman)âWes grows to enjoy all the strength he ever wanted. But, slowly, he begins to realize there is more to his dangerous associates than meets the eye. And as he wavers between newfound heroism and vengeance, Wes will come to learn what no one could ever teach him: he alone controls his destiny.
Again, âWantedâ hits theaters tomorrow.
