Exclusive Video Interviews with the Cast of ROCKET SCIENCE

     August 9, 2007

A little over a week ago I got to participate in a very small roundtable interview with the cast of “Rocket Science” in Los Angeles. Usually when you participate in these kinds of interviews you just use a tape recorder and that’s how you capture the event.

But for some reason I decided to push the boundaries of what a normal roundtable is that day. I summoned up the courage and asked if I could videotape the interviews as I’d already met all the actors at Sundance and hoped they would remember me and be cool with it. And while I was nervous asking, I shouldn’t have been, as all the people involved with the film were cool with me filming and you can watch it all below.

The roundtables were done in two groups. The first was writer/director Jeffrey Blitz and the lead in the movie, Reece Daniel Thompson. The second group was Anna Kendrick, Nicholas D’Agosto, and Aaron Yoo.

Since the interviews ran long, I’ve divided them up into three parts. They’re clearly labeled so you can go from part to part.

Each interview is worth watching as no one involved with the film has an ego and all the questions are answered with honesty and sincerity. Of course we covered the making of the movie, how it came about, what’s coming up, what people did when they weren’t filming, and a ton more.

“Rocket Science” is definitely worth checking out when it gets released in your area.

A teenager tackles the mysteries of life, love and public speaking in ROCKET SCIENCE, a wry comedy of adolescent angst by Jeffrey Blitz, director of the Academy Award-nominated documentary SPELLBOUND. Winner of the Dramatic Directing Award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, Blitz’s narrative feature debut leaves behind the conventions and clichés of coming-of-age tales. Instead, he conjures a world where everyone, regardless of age, is befuddled by desire and the longing for human connection. Mixing humor with a compassionate regard for his characters and their idiosyncrasies, Blitz creates a film about the little insights that can emerge from, and ultimately eclipse, the agonies and disappointments of youth.
