everyone is looking pretty, uh… white

    • Roderick

Surely Joel Edgerton with thick oriental eye makeup doesn’t count!

  • DEADP00L

    ….Moses with an American accent.

    • Max Rockatansky

Seriously. WTF is he suppose to sound like? A stereotype middle eastern/Egytian with a bad accent or an British accent? I guess you give Charles Heston in The Ten Commandments a pass right?

      • DEADP00L

What kind of a question is that? Really? Like when Tom Cruise played a Nazi with an American accent that didnt strike you as werid?

It’s totally weird and distracting and LAZY.

      • Max Rockatansky

LOL. I guessed you didn’t watch Valkyrie right? Tom Cruise was speaking in German at the beginning as a voice over. But slowly they switch it to English. Why not complain about Kingdom of Heaven or even Gladiator too? You see where I’m going?

      • DEADP00L

I did but unlike Gladiator, Moses is actually a real person? In Kingdom of Heaven they at least had a Syrian play Saladin, and Eva Green is part Persian and brought her french roots in her accent which was also very accurate.

Moses with an American accent is just silly and so was the Valkyrie angle of eventually having American and British accents.

      • Max Rockatansky

Ahahahaha!! So Rome isn’t real? Why the fuck are the Roman speaking in British accents? “Accurate”?? Non of them should even be speaking in English. Stop being naive. Hollywood created this stereotypical accents of the people of Nationality of what they would sound like with a broken english so that way we don’t have to watch a dubbed or read subtile movies.

I have no problem with his American accent. Start worrying if he starts using “Yo, what’s up” or “God damn it. Jesus Christ. Holy Moses. Holy Fuck. Shit. Asshole. Mother fucker” and ect.. If he’s going to swear in an American accent it should be something like ” “By The Dog Of Egypt.”

      • DEADP00L

So Moses interpretation is not important? Just so I know whether to dispel all belief. It’s totally okay that a Jewish figure as important as Moses – is misrepresented? In all context?

Also Britain was apart of the Roman empire so its very likely the accent of Britain is very roman in origin with a mix and blend of Anglo and Saxon.

      • Max Rockatansky

Jesus is fucking white and have blue eyes when he’s supposed to look like a Galilean Semite. So yeah no one gives a fuck. It’s a movie. Go find yourself a documentary and watch about the Moses. The story of Moses is a fucking MYTH so no one gives a shit if you interpreted anything you want. So yeah I preferred the Monty Python’s Life of Brian over The Passion of the Christ .

      • MJ

        Max, I agree 100%

      • DEADP00L

XD Music to my ears… I’m just glad I didnt have to walk egg shells. Now I can be as brash about herka derka people.

        Awesome.

You wont believe the crap this movie has gotten on twitter theres actually a BoycottExodus hashtag!

So nobody will question the parting of the red sea or God talking through a bush here, but Moses looking too light is a huge deal? Major disconnect.

God/Bush: You will lead your people to the Promised Land.
        ++++++
Audience Member to Companion: This bother’s me
Companion: You mean that the bush is talking
Audience Member: No, that Bale’s nose isn’t big enough

Moses: Drawing hands up, the Red Sea Parts, the sun shines, and his people walk across the seabed
        ++++++
Audience Member to Companion: This bother’s me
Companion: You mean that an entire sea magically parted
Audience Member: No, Bale is too white looking

      • NickK201

You don’t find the white washing even a little bit racist?
They even changed the facial features of the Sphinx so it looks like a white face. I find that quite deplorable. I won’t be watching this movie, and I’m really disappointed in Ridley.
At least Mel Gibson tried to do something authentic with The Passion and Apocolypto, Ridley would probably cast Johnny Depp as the lead in Apocolypto.
Remember, its 2014 and they just cast Sigourney Weaver as an Egyptian queen! LMAO

      • MJ

Do any of you Einsteins here even know history?

The royalty of many ancient Egyptians came from Greece, Spain, Israel and other locations.

Did you know that the first Blond in recorded history is on an Egyptian painting?

In fact, many historians now believe that the ancient Egyptians were multiracial. For example:

“Overall I get the impression that one’s skin color mattered less to the Egyptians than it does to us; if you accepted their culture, you were all right as far as they were concerned. I think the modern world can learn something from that.”

      • cezar211091 .

        yeah,sure

      • cezar211091 .

        shut the fuck up,asshole

      • MJ

Last time I checked, many Jews were indistinguishable from Caucasians. Would it really make a difference if Adrian Brody had the lead here versus Bale? Brody is even more “white looking” to me than Bale.

Many Egyptians of that time had family locations to Greece, Spain and other locations…many skin tones.

      • MJ

“Stop being naive. Hollywood created this stereotypical accents of the people of Nationality of what they would sound like with a broken english so that way we don’t have to watch a dubbed or read subtile movies.”

        OF COURSE. Duh!!!

Deadpool should just stick to subtitled movies if this really bothers him so much. Their are thousands of movies with this same issue. It’s a moot point.

      • MJ

But magical burning bushes and Red Seas parting….NO PROBLEM! LOL

      • MJ

“I guessed you didn’t watch Valkyrie right? Tom Cruise was speaking in German at the beginning as a voice over.”

Yep. I don’t think he watched the movie.

      • DEADP00L

        I did watch it.

      • lord jim

Nazis speaking english with a german accent would have been weirder.

    • MJ

I have no issues with this. It’s a film, not an ancient world reality TV show. Give me a break. LOL

      • http://tarek-to-verso.over-blog.com/ tarek

Stop fighting kids. I’ll do Moses.

  • Max Rockatansky

If this anywhere nearly as good as Gladiator or Kingdom of Heaven(DC) then we are in for a good time. Hopefully nothing like Robin Hood. In Ridley I trust if the script is good.

    • MIXTER

His Robin Hood was fantastic! As was KOH(DC) I just wish everyone else appreciated his Robin Hood begins angle, then we coulda gotten a great sequel of him doing the stuff in the legends. Very underrated movie! Give it another go!

    • Neven

I honestly have a lot of faith in the screenplay as well because it’s written by Steve Zaillian who wrote such movies as The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Moneyball, American Gangster and of course Schindler’s List. Combine that with Ridley’s talent for directing, scope and visual grandness (Much needed with something like this), and there’s a fine chance for this to turn out great.

  • Farrell

    Fuck this movie.

  • Mixed race rich kid NYC

    • TOm

How about you get over yourself and this. IT’S NOT A RACIST MOVIE DUMBASS!

  • Verbal Kent

    #NOPE

  • CJ

I think that by this point Ridley Scott could direct a movie like this in his sleep.

  • TigerFIST

How? The whole movie is WHITEWASHED!!!!

    • TOm

How about you go back to your Edgar Wright wet dreams?

  • the king of comedy

The problem is I`ve been let down by Ridley Scott before, he always seems to be involved in amazing projets with great potential but somehow they end up being just ok (or in some cases awful).

  • Colin Christian

It’s a fairy story, who cares who plays what? So,if the wrong species of frog is used in the plague someone is gonna bitch about that? It’s Snow White not Vietnam.

  • Gerry Rock

IMO, I don’t care about the accents or the color of their skins, my only problem with this film is the 2 main actors, I think Bale and Edgerton should switch their characters, cause Edge plays Ramses, but he looks like a shy and flat pharaoh, I don’t see any kind of authority from him. on the other side, Bale looks like a rude and some kind of dictator Moses, but that’s my opinion.
