CBS has unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi series Extant.  The show stars Halle Berry as an astronaut who, upon returning from a 13-month solo mission in space, discovers that she’s pregnant.  Her other child (Pierce Gagnon) begins spouting strange, prophetic comments while the government suddenly becomes interested in her life.  It’s impossible to ignore that this trailer resembles Gravity, though the space-centered portion appears to be only a small part of the story, as the real mystery begins when she returns to Earth.  CBS gained big ratings with last year’s summer experiment Under the Dome despite it being a terrible show, but Extant certainly has an interesting premise and a solid lead.  Hopefully the series comes together as a worthwhile piece of summer entertainment.
