The Fantastic Beasts 2 trailer is almost here! Warner Bros. today unveiled a trailer teaser for the upcoming sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, announcing that the full debut trailer will be online on Tuesday, March 13th. This trailer teaser doesn’t have any actual footage from the film but instead launches the global social activation #WandsReady. This movement asks fans to post a photo of themselves with their own wand using the hashtag, or by using the #WandsReady photo uploader on the film’s official website. If you do so, you’ll be given the opportunity to create a personalized magical video to share on your social channel.

As for the film itself, David Yates returns to helm his sixth film in the Wizarding World franchise after making his debut on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Author J.K. Rowling made her screenwriting debut on the first Fantastic Beasts and reprises those duties on the sequel, which moves the action to Paris as Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his friends are enlisted by Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) to help track down the villainous Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

Yates did a great job of differentiating his Potter films visually from one another, so I’m mighty curious to see what kind of aesthetic tone he strikes with The Crimes of Grindelwald. However, interestingly enough, Fantastic Beasts 2 marks the first time Yates has worked with the same cinematographer two times in a row, in this case Philippe Rousselot who shot the first Beasts. While Eduardo Serra shot both Deathly Hallows films, those movies were made back-to-back so Yates didn’t go through the process of wrapping one, doing post-production, then starting back up again.

Regardless, I’m mighty curious to see how Fantastic Beasts 2 shakes out. Check out the trailer teaser below and come back to Collider tomorrow to watch the full trailer. The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol , Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Zoe Kravitz, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, Carmen Ejogo and Jessica Williams. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald opens in theaters on November 16th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald:

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
