Last week, we reported on the rumor that Fox was talking to a few actors such as Adrien Brody and Jonathan Rhys Meyers about coming on board for their planned 3D Fantasic Four reboot.  Now, a week later, we are starting to hear about the names of potential directors for the film.  According to the latest rumors [via CBM], the studio has directors Joe Carnahan (The A-Team), David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), and James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) on their short list to helm the film. More on what we know about the film so far along with details about Bruce Willis voicing The Thing after the jump.

To those of you that don’t know, if Fox doesn’t make a Fantasic Four movie soon then they will have to give back the rights to Marvel Studios. Although I would prefer for that to happen, it seems that Fox is serious about keeping the rights by making their planned Summer 2012 release date for the film.

Not much is known about the upcoming reboot, but here is what we’ve heard so far:

-         The film plans to start shooting next spring.

-         It will be called Fantastic Four Reborn.

-         The film will be shot in 3D (not post-converted).

-         The Thing will be all CGI.

ComicBookMovie is also reporting that Fox wants Bruce Willis to voice The Thing.   Although an official offer has not been made, the studio wants the actor to both provide the voice and to appear in some brief scenes as the character in human form during the opening credits. I have to say that I think that this is a perfect choice and I hope that the rumor is true.

So who would you like to see direct the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot? I would personally love to see Yates direct the film since he has proven that he can handle huge action set pieces while juggling multiple characters and having great dramatic moments.  On the other hand, I can see Carnahan making a ridiculously fun film.  Meanwhile, I’m not too excited about McTeigue since I was let down by the very lame Ninja Assassin despite really liking V for Vendetta.

The characters are the same, right? They’re using Richards, Storm and Grimm? so.. why call it ‘reborn’ — sounds odd to me.

James Gandofini is the best choice as the VOICE of The Thing although I would not cast him to actually play the part of Ben Grimm. Bruce Willis is a good choice for both but he seems a little old for the part. Grimm and Richards are supposed to be best friends who are about the same age. If they’re going young with the Richards casting why cast Willis?

Too soon bad idea all around. Fox should just leave it alone.

David Yates. Hands down. Not Carnahan.

As odd sounding as Batman Begins?
