Last week at CinemaCon I landed an exclusive video interview with Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell for director Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four. Since I knew the cast was going to be guarded with their answers, I tried to ask things they could talk about like memorable moments from filming and how much footage they’ve seen from the movie. The biggest surprise for me was they’ve seen exactly as much Fantastic Four footage as the rest of us, and they’ve yet to do any ADR (the process of re-recording dialogue to improve audio quality). What that means is the movie is nowhere close to finished.
However, while many of you have been nervous about Fantastic Four, I’m still very confident Trank is going to deliver something cool and new. Especially after he told us the film is heavily influenced by David Cronenberg, with Scanners and The Fly acting as major touchstones for the film’s visuals.
Fantastic Four opens August 7th. Here’s the short interview followed by the time index of what we talked about.
