With Fast Five (The Fast and the Furious 5) already filming in Puerto Rico (they started on Tuesday and the first images of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Ludacris, and Tyrese Gibson are here), you knew it was only a matter of time before Universal would announce other casting, as we still didn't know who was playing the villain and you can't make a Fast and Furious movie without a love interest.

And wouldn't you know it....Universal has announced through Variety that Joaquim de Almeida and Elsa Pataky are joining the cast as the villain and female lead, respectively.  Also Matt Schulze, who appeared in the first movie, is back in the fifth installment. More after the jump:

According to the Variety article:

Portuguese thesp de Almeida (24, Desperado) will play a ruthless and powerful drug lord. Pataky, a native of Spain, is onboard as Diesel's love interest.

If you missed our report from earlier in the week, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has also joined the cast alongside Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.  For fans of the Fast and the Furious franchise, the film is shaping up to be the biggest in terms of name cast members.

Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast and Furious) is back directing again with Neal Moritz producing.

When I interviewed Moritz about the movie back in March, he said the movie will be filming in Brazil, Puerto Rico, a little bit in Los Angeles and some in Atlanta.  Also, they're already developing a 6th installment.  Considering the last movie, Fast and Furious made $353 million at the worldwide box office and the reported budget was under $100 million, this is not a surprise.

Fast Five is scheduled for release June 10, 2011.
