We still don't know how Universal and director James Wan will proceed with Fast & Furious 7 following Paul Walker's death.  There's the possibility of a January restart date and a rumor about having Cody Walker step in to film his brother's remaining scenes.  Whichever way the production chooses to move forward, Universal has officially given up its original July 11, 2014 release dateVin Diesel has announced on his Facebook page that the movie will now open on April 10, 2015.  While I'm sure Fast & Furious fans will be disappointed by the delay, I'm sure they'll also understand that moving the date back is the wisest course of action.  It's currently an easy weekend with Insidious 3 currently being the only competition (we'll set aside that 2015 somehow became even crazier in terms of blockbusters).  There's too much goodwill towards the Fast & Furious franchise, and fans want to see Walker's final performance (assuming Universal will keep him in the movie).

In addition to announcing the release date, Diesel also posted a photo of the last scene he filmed with Walker along with a personal message.  You can check out the image after the jump.

The last scene we filmed together…

There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we've come…

Fast and Furious 7 will be released…

April 10th 2015!

P.s. He'd want you to know first…
