We’ve got a whole bunch of new posters for you tonight — one each from Faster and The Nutcracker in 3D, plus a set of six from Priest. As a refresher:
- Faster stars Dwayne Johnson as a man looking to avenge his brother’s death from behind the wheel
- Nutcracker is the latest retelling of the classic holiday ballet, with Elle Fanning at the lead
- Priest is an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name led by Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, each of whom get their own character one-sheet
Check out all the posters and synopses for each film after the jump.
Faster hits theaters on November 24th, thus marking the date Johnson escapes his purgatory of family films. For more info on Faster, check out Steve’s preview on his visit to the set here.
After 10 years in prison, Driver (Dwayne Johnson) has a singular focus – to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he’s finally on his mission…but with two men on his trail – veteran cop (Billy Bob Thornton) just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. It’s a do or die race to the list’s finish as the mystery surrounding his brother’s murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver’s list may be incomplete.

Nutcracker will join Faster on its November 24th opening date. This poster is full of silly whimsy, though not out of keeping with the source material. Nathan Lane looks like he thinks he’s winning the battle of crazy wigs: John Turturro clearly knows he already won.
From the imagination of acclaimed Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky, the cherished story of The Nutcracker will be brought to life in spectacular 3D this holiday season. THE NUTCRACKER IN 3D follows nine-year-old Mary (Elle Fanning) whose dull Viennese Christmas is suddenly filled with excitement and adventure following the arrival of her beloved Uncle Albert (Nathan Lane) and his gift of an enchanted nutcracker.
On Christmas night, Mary’s new friend, The Nutcracker (Charlie Rowe) or “NC,” comes to life and takes her on a wondrous journey into his magical world of fairies, sugarplums, and other Christmas toys which come to life. Mary soon realizes that this fantastical kingdom is facing danger from the tyrannical rule of the evil Rat King (John Turturro) and his devious mother (Frances de la Tour). When NC is taken hostage, Mary and her newfound toy friends must uncover the secret of the Rat King to rescue NC and his kingdom.

Priest opens in 3D theaters May 13, 2011. I’m kinda digging this set, especially if you pretend it’s supposed to form a sentence: “Blood thirsty vampire killer, ‘Black Hat,’ kidnapped the law.” Via IMP Awards:
This Screen Gems thriller is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi ride, set in an alternate world – one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on a quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills. Directed by Scott Charles Stewart and written by Cory Goodman along with Min-Woo Hyung from the graphic novel series “Priest”, PRIEST stars Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Brad Dourif, Stephen Moyer, and Christopher Plummer.

How interesting that they can’t get away from the genre? I mean, once you do a vampire film, whether you’re a vampire or a vampire hunter, you kind of go back to the vampire genre again.
Gigandet was in Twilight. He was James.
Moyer’s in True Blood.
Something like how Michael Sheen was Lucian in Underworld and then he became Aro in the Twilight films. Or like how Beckinsale did Underworld then Van Helsing then the rest of the Underworld films.
This isn’t the first time Bettany has played a priest.. Wasn’t he that priest/assassin in The Da Vinci Code?
Also how Rhona Mitra played a vampire in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and now plays one on The Gates.
Please, please, please let the trailer be a lie for American audiences. Paul Bettany affecting an American accent? Wrong, wrong, wrong! Completely unecessary, redundant and just plain awful. The guy has a very well known, unique voice and to throw that away is just a horror story made flesh. We’ll all just be sitting there getting yanked out of the film any time he speaks. Terrible, terrible, terrible idea! Please let it be a lie. I would rank this alongside the casting of David Wenham as the narrator in 300 in the ranks of awful. And I truly believe that to be one of the stupidest decisions ever made. A potential visual masterpiece ruined – completely.
Hopefully Priest will be crap – then it won’t matter.
