Check out the Extended Version of the Ferris Bueller-Inspired Super Bowl Ad starring Matthew Broderick

by     Posted 1 year, 140 days ago

A few days ago, we showed a sneak peek at the Honda CR-V Super Bowl Ad featuring Matthew Broderick playing off his Ferris Bueller role.  Directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover), the ad is pretty cute and funny, although it has a notable lack of Alan Ruck.  The ad would be perfect if the CR-V belonged to Alan Ruck’s dad, they took it, and then Ruck destroyed it in a fit of cathartic rage at the end.

Hit the jump to check out the ad.  A shorter version will play during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

100 bucks says this leads to a lot of talk after the super bowl and then a focus group to see if people want more Ferris. If it gets that far we’ll be seeing a new sequel within the next 2 years. All from a Honda commercial. Or they’ll try and whore it out into a remake and we’ll get Zac Effron as the new Ferris! Oh for shame. I wouldn’t mind seeing a true well written sequel about mid life Ferris, but the only way I see it truly working is when theirs no more room in hell and the dead walk the earth. They’d have to hire zombie Hughes to write the script. Well unless he’s busy writing Babies Day Out 2: baby, the other other white meat.

after watching the movie recently because of the 10 second teaser, i thought it was really good as a commercial. BUT… i miss the cast and I missed him as Bueller and I thought it was going to be an anouncement for a second one which i desperately want

Should have been Bueller, but not bad. As for a sequel to FBDO, knowing Hollywood, we’ll get a remake instead.

I always considered the Michael J Fox movie “Secret of My Success” to be kind of a spiritual successor to FBDO in that it chronicles the cleaver, maneuvering of a charming young man entering the working world. It’s a fun 80′s movie that slipped under radar, but might be worth watching if you are craving something along those lines.
