Synopsis:

In Cesar Chavez, director Diego Luna presents a powerful cinematic portrait of the legendary activist. The film stars Michael Peña (End of Watch, Lionsgate’s Academy Award-winning Crash) in the title role, along with America Ferrera (Ugly Betty, End of Watch), Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Seven Pounds) and John Malkovich (In The Line of Fire, Summit Entertainment’s Red and Red 2).

Chronicling the birth of a modern American movement, Cesar Chavez tells the story of the famed civil rights leader and labor organizer torn between his duties as a husband and father and his commitment to securing a living wage for farm workers. Passionate but soft-spoken, Chavez embraced non-violence as he battled greed and prejudice in his struggle to bring dignity to people. Chavez inspired millions of Americans from all walks of life who never worked on a farm to fight for social justice. His triumphant journey is a remarkable testament to the power of one individual’s ability to change the world.

Here’s the synopsis for 300: Rise of an Empire:

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

You would think they will cast an actor who’s actually good looking for a movie like this…

History is made one step at a time? Talk about a silly, cliched tagline. Still, the poster looks good.

Because “Nowhere Boy” was such an outstanding first film, I’m a little surprised to see the director decide to make “Fifty Shades” her sophomore film. Clearly she sees more potential in the films premise than I do.

I’m equally disappointed to see Jamie Dorian in the film as he’s actually quite a gifted actor and along with the director doesn’t seem to be making a very rational career choice here especially now that we know just how small the payday is for everybody involved.

    Cool teaser poster though.

I’d like to add that due to the director and the talented Mr. Dornan, I’m halfway expecting the director to turn this piece of sh*t into a diamond by totally dismantling and reassembling the picture into an artistically credible indie pic (a la Shame, Secretary, etc). The irony there would be that the indie/artsy/intellectual crowd that despised the books would love it, and the fans of the source material would hate it/boycott it for being too artsy, too well-done, and too different from the source material.

    One can hope, anyway…
