First Image from Mitch Glazer’s PASSION PLAY Starring Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox

passion_play_movie_image_megan_fox_mickey_rourke_01.jpgEW has released the first still from the upcoming Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox film Passion Play, the directorial debut of Mitch Glazer.  The shot reveals little about the film other than the fact that as usual, Megan Fox is stunning.  The synopsis sounds pretty cool: Rourke will play a troubled musician while Fox is a winged sideshow attraction and they “rescue each other from dangerous circumstances.”  Coming off The Wrestler, Mickey Rourke has reemerged as one of Hollywood’s best actors, and certainly one of the most unique.  I’m also excited to see Megan Fox get to play a role where she’s given more to do than run from robots, because she’ll have the chance to really prove herself as an actress rather than just an endlessly quotable sex symbol.  Rourke recently called her “probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with,” which is high praise indeed.

    Mickey Rourke wasn't in Iron Man. He's in Iron Man 2, but that hasn't been released yet, so I don't know how you know it's tremendous. that being said, i'm really looking forward to Iron Man 2. the trailer looks great, and it has a good chance of being tremendous, so I'll give you that.

    Wasn't Megan Fox supposed to show “her acting chops” in Jennifer's Body? Or is that what being an “endlessly quotable sex symbol” was about? Granted, I didn't see the movie and I know a lot of people thought Cody's writing was irritating but.. I think I remember seeing a lot of people thinking Megan Fox was crap in it.

    Word up Tori! I meant to say something about Megan Fox too, I just forgot. Thankfully you said it for me lol

    @Tori
    The reception of Fox's performance was as polarized as of the film itself. Some said she was average, some praised her (including Roger Ebert). I thought she was good and showed potential, even if she lacked consistency. I think anyone who says she was bad is either prejudiced or doesn't get what the movie and her character are about. Anyway, Jennifer's Body was a test for her but it was still a campy dark comedy, not a drama.

    I don't know what to make of Rourke's compliment and I take it with a pinch of salt. However, he is not the one to blow smoke up his co-stars' asses, to say the least, so it definitely means something. I won't be surprised if in time Fox develops into a very good actress.

    I actually saw “Jennifer's Body” and Megan Fox was perfect in it – it was actually quite funny and VERY hip so it probably went over a lot of the typical troglodyte's head. Mickey Rourke is simply one of the greatest film actors we've produced since Marlon Brando – we're fortunate he's back.
