AMC has so far been two-for-two with original series with Mad Men and Breaking Bad. The network will test their luck with the conspiracy thriller Rubicon this summer, but production began today for the forthcoming adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comic The Walking Dead. The six-episode first season is written, directed, and produced by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption), and follows “a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home after a zombie apocalypse.”
AMC sent over a gruesome high resolution photo of one of “The Walkers”, the moniker attributed to the zombies of the series. Check it out after the jump. [UPDATE: We’ve been sent a video introduction to The Walking Dead and more images. You can check them out after the jump as well.]
In the first Red Nose Day special on American shores (benefitting the charity Comic Relief), celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant, Anna Kendrick, and even Kermit the Frog all showed up to participate in the live telecast.
