With Sony Screen Gems premiering the 3D red band trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife this Friday night at Wonder Con, it’s no surprise the promotional machine has ramped up with the release of the first images from the movie (thanks to MySpace). Starring Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Spencer Locke, Wentworth Miller, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Kim Coates, Norman Yeung and Kasey Barnfield, RE: Afterlife continues the adventures of Alice in the world of the undead.
While many films made in 2D are getting released in 3D, Resident Evil: Afterlife was filmed using 3D cameras. What that means is…this thing is going to look awesome in 3D! Hit the jump to check out the first images and look for the trailer this Saturday at 2:15pm.
Here’s the synopsis:
In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Bleh, all this 3-D filming is going to bankrupt me, I can't afford to be paying 15 bucks for every film I go to; besides half these things don't even feel right in 3-D. Avatar made sense, kiddie movies make sense, Resident Evil is kind of on the verge of it making sense, but making movies like Harold and Kumar or romantic comedies in 3-D is just ridiculous.
I've been waiting for this movie because I'm a fan of the series, just not quite sure if I'll see it in 3-D. My worst nightmare is going to a movie and seeing it in 3-D and having the whole experience ruined because the 3-D was bothersome or looked goofy or just seemed like too much.
