The summer movie season is about to begin, and as outlets begin their big “Summer Preview” issues, we’re starting to get a first look at some upcoming films like New Line Cinema’s Vacation reboot, Sony Pictures' Aloha, and Woody Allen’s romantic comedy Irrational Man for Sony Pictures Classics.

Vacation marks the directorial debut of Horrible Bosses scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and stars Ed Helms as a grown up Rusty Griswold, who opts to take his own family on a vacation that goes horribly wrong. Christina Applegate plays Rusty’s wife, Leslie Mann is his sister Audrey, and Chris Hemsworth plays Audrey’s up-and-coming anchorman husband, marking the Thor actor’s first big foray into comedy. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo also make cameos reprising their roles as the elder Griswolds, as you can see in this first image from USA Today. Daley and Goldstein have a solid track record as writers (Cloudy 2 was a lot of fun, and I think Incredible Burt Wonderstone has some really great/dark moments), so I'm looking forward to seeing how they fare behind the camera. The film opens in theaters July 31st.

Also revealed is the first image from writer/director Cameron Crowe's romantic drama/comedy Aloha. The film stars Bradley Cooper as a defense contractor overseeing a weapons satellite launch from Hawaii who teams up with (and falls for) an Air Force pilot (Emma Stone) to scuttle a launch. While the pic has been delayed from its initial December release, I thought the first trailer was dynamite, so I'm completely onboard for Crowe's next outing. The film also stars Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray, John Krasinski, and Danny McBride and opens in theaters on May 29th.

And finally, the first image from Woody Allen’s new film Irrational Man offers a look at Emma Stone in a different light. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film stars Joaquin Phoenix as a university professor and reportedly revolves around his relationship with a student, played by Stone. The cast also includes Parker Posey and Jamie Blackley and opens in theaters on July 17th.
