Thanks to Entertainment Tonight, film geeks have gotten their first look at the upcoming action-comedy Knight and Day, starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.  The film, directed by James Mangold (Walk The Line), follows a mismatched couple-- Diaz and Cruise-- as they travel the world, engaging in hijinks and various misadventures.

Want to know more?  Here's 20th Century Fox's official plot synopsis:

An action-comedy centered on a fugitive couple (Cruise and Diaz) on a glamorous and sometimes deadly adventure where nothing and no one - even themselves - are what they seem. Amid shifting alliances and unexpected betrayals, they race across the globe, with their survival ultimately hinging on the battle of truth vs. trust.

The film was formerly known as Wichita, but that title was abandoned following the realization that Wichita is one of the least-descriptive, audience-repelling titles ever conjured.  Knight and Day seems to fit the action-slash-comedy tone the film's going to be providing audiences with.  As for the footage screened on ET, you can check it out after the jump along with the first poster.

Looks solid to us.  It's good to see Diaz and Cruise together again (following their joint work in 2001's Vanilla Sky), and Cruise in particular seems to be having a lot of fun in the role.  The word on the street lately has been that Cruise has been keen to take on some more overtly comedic material, likely due to the great reception he received for his work in Ben Stiller's Tropic Thunder.  That part in the clip above where he's explaining the pilots being shot?  Nailed it.

You can stay tuned to Collider for more Knight and Day news as it becomes available, folks.  In the meantime, let us know what you thought of the footage in the comments section below:  Good?  Bad?  Ugly?  Glad they changed the name from Wichita?  We wanna know, so sound off in that pretty little box below to have your voice heard!
