We have three awesome new posters to show you today from Mondo, the boutique shop of the famous Alamo Drafthouse. First up is Olly Moss and Jon Contino’s fantastic commemorative poster for Chris Morris’ terrorist comedy Four Lions, which is the first film to be distributed under the Drafthouse’s new distribution arm, Drafthouse Films. The design of the poster was inspired by England’s soccer flag (the film is set in Sheffield, England). Four Lions opens in limited release on November 5th.
There’s also the latest posters in Mondo’s ongoing Star Trek and Star Wars series. Both posters were done by artist Tom Whalen. The Trek poster pays tribute to the episode “Journey to Babel” while the Star Wars poster is the first in the Mondo series to show some love to Mr. Jabba the Hutt. The posters go on sale tomorrow at an unspecified time (follow @MondoNews on Twitter for the announcement of when they’ll be available). Each print will be limited to an edition of less than 300 and will probably sell out in under ten minutes. Hit the jump to check out all of the posters.
Here’s the official synopsis for Four Lions:
Chris Morris’ Four Lions is a whip-smart, laugh-out-loud comedy that illuminates the war on terror through satire and farce. Four Lions proves that while terrorism may be about ideology, it’s also about idiots. In a British city, four men have a secret plan. Omar (Riz Ahmed) is disillusioned about the treatment of muslims around the world and is determined to become a soldier. This is the most exciting idea Waj (Kayvan Novak) has ever heard. Better still it’s a no brainer because Omar does his thinking for him. Opposed to Omar and everyone else on earth is the white islamic convert Barry (Nigel Lindsay). He’d realize he joined the cell to channel his nihilism – if he had half the self knowledge of a duck. Faisal (Adeel Akhtar) is the odd man out. He can make a bomb – but he can’t blow himself up just now coz his sick dad has “started eating newspaper”. Instead he’s training crows to fly bombs through windows. This is what Omar has to deal with. They must strike a decisive blow on their own turf but can any of them strike a match without punching himself in the face?
