Earlier today, the lineup for the 2014 Cannes Film Festival was announced, which means that marketing materials are going online, or in the case of Bennett Miller's Foxcatcher, back online.  A teaser trailer was released last fall, but then Sony pulled it shortly before announcing that the film would be pushed back to 2014.  Now that the movie is playing in competition at Cannes, the Foxcatcher trailer is back online, and I highly recommend watching it if you haven't already.  There are also new posters and trailers David Michôd’s upcoming thriller The Rover starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, and for Atom Egoyan's The Captive starring Ryan Reynolds and Mireille Enos.  Both films look fascinating, and I'm eager to hear the reaction to all of these pictures after they play at Cannes.

Hit the jump to check out the trailers and posters.  The Rover opens in New York and L.A. on June 13th and goes nationwide on June 20th.  Domestic release dates have yet to be announced for Foxcatcher and The Captive.

Here's the official synopsis for Foxcatcher:

FOXCATCHER, a psychological drama directed by Academy Award® nominee Bennett Miller (MONEYBALL) and starring Golden Globe® winner Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Academy Award®nominee Mark Ruffalo, Academy Award® winner Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller, will have its World Premiere on Friday, November 8 as the Opening Weekend Gala. The film was written by E. Max Frye and Academy Award® nominee Dan Futterman. FOXCATCHER tells the story of Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Tatum), who sees a way out from the shadow of his more celebrated wrestling brother Dave (Ruffalo) and a life of poverty when he is summoned by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont (Carell) to move onto his estate and train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Desperate to gain the respect of his disapproving mother, du Pont begins “coaching” a world-class athletic team and, in the process, lures Mark into dangerous habits, breaks his confidence and drives him into a self-destructive spiral. Based on actual events, FOXCATCHER is a gripping and profoundly American story of fragile men who pinned their hopes for love and redemption on a desperate obsession for greatness that was to end in tragedy.

Here's the official synopsis for The Rover:

THE ROVER, David Michod's highly anticipated follow-up to ANIMAL KINGDOM, is set in a world 10 years following the collapse of society. The rule of the law has disintegrated and life is cheap. The film follows hardened loner Eric (Pearce) as he travels the desolate towns and roads of the outback. When a gang of thieves steals his car they leave behind a wounded Rey (Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that still matters to him. Michod also wrote the film based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton.

Here's the official synopsis for The Captive starring Ryan Reynolds, Mireille Enos, Scott Speedman, Rosario Dawson, Kevin Durand, Alexia Fast, and Bruce Greenwood:

A pick up truck pulls off the highway at a diner. Confident that his young daughter is safe in the back seat and promising to return with ice cream, the father slips out of his truck and into the diner. When he returns, she is gone.

The Captive examines how this kidnapping destroys the relationships among those involved. As the film teases out the complex threads weaving together the victim, her family, the predators and the investigators, the mystery is revealed as to what happened to the child during the eight years she was missing.
