Disney has released the first imaged from Tim Burton's Full-Length 3D Stop-Motion Animated remake of Frankenweenie.  The movie keeps the black-and-white of his original short film and expands upon the story of a young boy who brings his dog, "Sparky", back from the dead by using the methods of Dr. Frankenstein.  Burton tells Entertainment Weekly that "Ultimately, we try to go with the slightly more positive aspects of keeping that [boy-and-his-dog] relationship going."  The images look fine, although as MattPatches astutely points out, Frankenweenie looks a lot like Brad Bird's Family Dog.

Here’s the synopsis for Frankenweenie:

From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
