The holidays are over, but there are plenty of new films hitting Blu-ray soon that would make perfect use of those gift cards you’ve been piling up.  Here’s a brief look at this week’s new Blu-ray releases:

Archer: Season Three [Blu-ray]

The third season of FX’s hilarious comedy series finally comes to home video, just in time for the season four premiere later this month.  The disc comes with audio commentaries on three episodes, an extended version of “Heart of Archness,” answering machine messages, and a “Cooking with Archer” featurette.

Compliance [Blu-ray]

One of the most talked about films of 2012 is now available on Blu-ray.  Based on true events, the film shows how easily human beings can be manipulated into doing things they know to be wrong.  The Blu-ray disc includes an audio commentary from director Craig Zobel and a featurette.

Dredd [3D Blu-ray + Digital Copy + UltraViolet]

Though it failed to make a splash box office-wise, the comic book adaptation Dredd 3D received a fairly positive critical response.  The Blu-ray comes with a number of extras for fans of the film, including a 14-minute featurette called “Mega-City Masters: 35 Years of Judge Dredd,” a visual effects featurette called “Day of Chaos: The Visual effects of Dredd,” a couple of short featurettes focusing on costumes, props, and locations, and a motion comic prequel.

Frankenweenie (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy)

Frankenweenie (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

Director Tim Burton returned to his animation roots with this year’s Frankenweenie, and now the stop-motion animated pic hit Blu-ray.  The disc includes a 23-minute making-of featurette, a short look at an art show that displayed sketches and such from the production, Burton’s original live-action Frankenweenie short in full, and a bonus animated short called “Catapin Sparky vs. The Flying Saucers.”

Game Change (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)

The politically charged HBO movie finally gets a home video release, as you can relive the chaos of the 2008 Presidential Campaign if you so choose.  The Blu-ray includes a few unspecified featurettes, as well as the Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy versions of the film.

Hit & Run (Two-Disc Combo Pack: Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + UltraViolet)

The action-comedy Hit & Run comes to Blu-ray, though the extras are decidedly lacking.  The disc includes six deleted scenes and a short 6-minute behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of the film.

House at the End of the Street [Blu-ray]

This horror pic didn’t exactly strike a chord with audiences, and the Blu-ray doesn’t look to be recruiting many new fans.  In addition to an unrated extended cut of the film, the bonus features simply include one making-of featurette and a trailer for the film.

Samsara [Blu-ray]

Shot in glorious 70mm across 25 different countries, Samsara is the definition of a film that’s meant to be experienced on the largest screen possible.  Nevertheless, the HD transfer on the Blu-ray should make for a sufficient alternative on home television screens.  The extras include a six-part, 49-minute making-of documentary and two trailers for the film.

Stolen (Blu-Ray)

You’d be forgiven for forgetting that the Nicolas Cage actioner Stolen actually did hit theaters, but if the film piqued your interest, you can now catch up with it on Blu-ray.  The disc comes with a 7-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, over 40 minutes worth of cast and crew interviews, and a collection of B-roll from the set.
