Disney has altered the release dates for its 2012 3D tentpole projects, Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie and Andrew Stanton’s (WALL-E) John Carter of Mars adaptation. According to an Exhibitor Relations Facebook update, Burton’s stop-motion remake of his 1984 live-action short, Frankenweenie, (which was recently slated for a March 9th release) is now set to hit 3D theaters on October 5th of the same year. As for John Carter of Mars, the project originally held a release date of June 8th, 2012 but has now been bumped up to fill Frankenweenie‘s previously held March 9th release.
As a reminder, Frankenweenie will star the voice talents of Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin Short. John Carter of Mars will feature a solid cast that includes Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Haden Church, Polly Walker, and Taylor Kitsch.
