Once upon a time, this little monster mash-up film was known as The Kitchen Sink and had Jonah Hill attached to make it his directorial debut; my, how things have changed. Soon after Hill was reported as being in negotiations to helm the horror/comedy film scripted by Oren Uziel (a script which made the 2011 Black List), Hill landed himself an Academy Award nomination and exited the project. Sony then tapped Robbie Pickering (Natural Selection) to direct the picture instead. Somewhere along the way, the picture's titled was changed from the placeholder to the current iteration, Freaks of Nature. Despite bumps along the road, the first red-band trailer is now available, and it's ... not great. Hopefully this is just a really poorly cut trailer and the final film will pull it all together.

The story takes place in the town of Dillforth, where vampires and zombies co-exist (if not exactly peacefully) alongside the human population. However, an alien invasion throws everything into chaos, turning all citizens on each other. It's up to a Monster Squad-type team of one human, one vampire, and one zombie to restore order. Starring Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis, Ed Westwick, Vanessa Hudgens, Keegan-Michael Key, Joan Cusack, Bob Odenkirk, Denis Leary, and Cerina Vincent, Freaks of Nature opens just in time for Halloween on October 30th.
