At this year’s SXSW, one film walked away with all the buzz: Joe Cornish’s Attack the Block. The film (which was produced by Cornish’s writing-buddy, Edgar Wright) had been called the “best film of SXSW 2011″ since its very first screening. It went on to win the Audience Award.
Unfortunately, if you weren’t at SXSW, all you’ve been able to do is read about the movie (or watch the international trailer). However, if you live in or around Los Angeles, I’ve got awesome news. I’ve got 15 pairs of tickets to give away to a free screening this Thursday night! Since the film doesn’t yet have domestic distribution, this is going to be your only way to see it for quite awhile. So if you’d like a chance to get tickets, hit the jump for more info:
UPDATE: An email has been sent to the 15 people that won tickets. However, if you didn’t get an email…a stand by line will open at 5:30pm, so feel free to try and get in that way. The theater is the Landmark Theatre at the Westside Pavilion. Anyone who has tickets but fails to check in by 7:15 loses the rights to their seat…some will flake. If you are near the front of the line, I think you have a good chance of getting in…
Now about the screening…
Right now I’ve got 15 pairs of tickets to giveaway. The screening will begin at 7:30pm Thursday night at a local Los Angeles theater. Since there might be a standby line, at some point I might update this story with the location so even if you don’t win tickets, you still might be able to get in. So bookmark this page just in case.
If you’d like a chance to get into the screening, what you need to do is email email@example.com with your name and phone number and say ATTACK THE BLOCK SCREENING in the headline. I’ll accept emails until Wednesday night at 8pm (Pacific Time). Later that night, I’ll pick out 15 people and email you to say congrats and provide you with the theater location and what you need to know. Make sure the name you send in matches your ID as they will be checking at the door. Also, one entry per person.
Finally, since I’ve only got 15 pairs of tickets, if you’d like to raise your chances of winning, feel free to tell me why you deserve to go. No sob stories. Just why you want to see Attack the Block right now. Good luck.
