New Year's Day marked another milestone for James Cameron's Avatar: after 15 days in theatres, the groundbreaking 3D film has now earned over $308 million here in the US alone. Worldwide receipts, which stood at $760 million as of the final day of 2009, should surpass $800 million by Sunday. Another point of interest: Avatar was up by $2 million on January First over last Friday. The rest of the top four held their numerical positions while taking the more customary 40%-50% drops in attendance going into their second week in theatres. Full details and final weekend estimates tomorrow.
