The good news keeps coming for Toy Story 3. Entering its second week on Friday, Pixar’s giant hit brought in another $18 million from its 4,028 dates. Add that to its impressive seven day total of $167.6 million and TS3 easily trumps Iron Man 2 as the highest-grossing launch of 2010. Even with Toy Story so clearly dominating, there was plenty of good news left over for the Grown Ups. The ensemble comedy came in second on Friday with $14 million from its 3,434 dates - right in line with previous Adam Sandler summer debuts like You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Click. Finally, as expected after its weak Wednesday debut, Fox’s Knight & Day placed a distant third on Friday with just $6.3 million. That means the chances of a $20 million weekend are kind of remote at this point; and that means trouble for this high-profile, high-priced star vehicle. We’ll have all the sorry details tomorrow.
