Friday Box Office: THE OTHER WOMAN Knocks CAPTAIN AMERICA Out of First Place

     April 26, 2014

After three weeks on top of the box office, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been vanquished.  The Marvel hit passed Thor: The Dark World’s final domestic gross earlier this week and, on its fourth weekend in theatres, is expected to stay strong in second place.  That makes The Other Woman the new number one film in America.  The Cameron Diaz comedy earned an estimated $9.3 million from 3,204 locations on Friday, putting it on track for $25 million this weekend.  That’s less than the $31.6 million debut of Diaz’s Bad Teacher, in 2011, but well above the $17 million that was projected.

The Other Woman aside, Friday was a hard day for new titles.  The action-drama Brick Mansions, featuring the late Paul Walker, earned an estimated $3.6 million in fourth place, while the PG-13 horror title The Quiet Ones brought in a very soft $1.5 million at number six.  We’ll have complete details on this weekend’s box office tomorrow.

 Title Friday Total
1.  The Other Woman $9,300,000 $9.3
2.  Captain America 2 $4,492,000 $213.3
3.  Heaven is for Real $4,050,000 $42.1
4.  Brick Mansions $3,590,000 $3.5
5.  Rio 2 $3,275,000 $85.7
6.  The Quiet Ones $1,520,000 $1.5

I’m sick of PG-13 horror movies and lame ass female driven comedy’s. I would have saw CAP 2 again but everybody I know usually downloads the movie so no need. I know this will drop heavy but I’m surprised it beat a PG-13 horror film I guess PARANORMAL ACTIVITY could have decline on it’s hands.

If it was a lame ass male driven comedy would you have been alright with it?

No since you asked. But can you name a good comedy besides Bridesmaids staring an all female cast? This got terrible reviews and I actually they reel guys in with in with three hot chicks ,well at least I think their hot. My point is lame is lame and you agree that PG-13 horror movies have to go,because you would overreact to that statement too.

Yeah, what’s the point of counter-programming films that target other demographics with disposable incomes that DON’T watch the big blockbusters?

      What a tard……..

Women aren’t funny and an R rating means a movie is good. Got it. Thanks, I needed a reality check.

To be fair, this wasn’t always the case, but anyone else now find Leslie Mann far hotter than Cameron Diaz?

‘There’s Something About Mary’ was a long, long time ago…

yeah Cameron Diaz looks like a wrinkly old hag while Mann has still got it!
