First Official Images from FRIGHT NIGHT Starring Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell [Updated with Hi-Res Images]

     April 7, 2011

The first images from Craig Gillespie’s 3D remake of Fright Night have gone online.  The story centers on a teenager (Anton Yelchin) who discovers that his neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire.  And not a cuddly Twilight vampire.  A he’s-murdering-people-because-he’s-a-vampire vampire. There’s nothing too spectacular in the shots aside from a fangy Colin Farrell threatening Anton Yelchin, but there’s also some shots of co-stars Imogen Poots and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  Fright Night also stars David Tennant and Toni Collette.  The film opens in 3D on August 19th. [Update: We've updated the article with three more images, which you can find after the jump.] [Update 2: We've now updated the article with hi-res versions of all of the images.]

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

All these vampire movies are getting out of hand. Damn you Stephanie Meyer! Look at what your craptastic book started!

I’m all for vampire movies, the original Fright Night is a classic, but is it just me or does Colin Farrell look like he’s eating Gushers on crack? If that’s what they’re going for Charlie Sheen probably coulda pulled it off better.

Yeah comparing Fright Night or 30 Days of Night or any other vampire movie that doesn’t follow the romance-pretend-we-are-vampires-cause-nobody-is-paying-attention look to Twilight doesn’t know shit about vamp films.

Yes Twilight keyed Hollywood in to the fact that a vampire movie CAN make a lot of money, so what if people in Hollywood are stupid and don’t realize it only makes money because little girls get wet over it; the end result is we get to see some actually GOOD vampire flicks this decade.

Dude, is that McLovin in that second picture? Looks like he bulked up some…

I’m really hoping this movie turns out good…it’s got a great cast and seems like they are trying to make it a great remake (in the vein of Dawn of the Dead, the Crazies, etc.) as opposed to a crap one (like all the others…)

I’m a big fang of the original Fright Night & Colin Farrell so definitely looking forward to this!

Last two images look like bad CGI. Weird.
