A new trailer for Fright Night has gone online.  I’m not really sure what to expect from the film.  Yes, it looks like there’s a lot more action than the original and while I would be slightly worried that the update may be trying too hard to be cool, I’ve heard positive word both on the script and reports from the set.  Here’s hoping it all comes together.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film stars Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, David Tennant, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Toni Collette.  Fright Night opens in 3D on August 19th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Fright Night.

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

awesome i didnt know it was R rated.

Looks pretty good but why oh why did they change the Peter Vincent character? Roddy McDowell as the has been C movie star was one of the more interesting parts of the original. If they kept the character the same and cast Bill Nighy, or even Simon Pegg for that matter, the movie would probably be a slam dunk.

I really like the “Don’t need an invitation if there’s no house.” And the fact that it’s R. Also looking forward to the Criss Angel Peter Vincent that could be really funny. This just might not suck.

I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve been following the news about it and so far everything looks pretty fuckin cool.

I’m also with Tommy K on the fact that the final line of the trailer (and Colin Farrell’s slimy delivery of it) was pretty bad ass.

    “Let’s kill something.”

Finally some Tennant action. Fingers crossed this isn’t a car crash.
