Last week I sat down with Josh Gad for an extended video interview. While I already posted what he said about his new FX comedy series The Comedians  – which stars Gad and Billy Crystal and revolves around the two of them crafting an FX sketch series called The Billy & Josh Show where they play versions of themselves – today I’ve got him talking about a few other subjects including Frozen 2, the Frozen Broadway show, how many Olaf voicemails he’s left for people, Bill Condon’s live-action Beauty and the Beast movie, and more. He’s what he had to say:

Josh Gad:

  • Does he have an annual passport for life at Disneyland now?
  • 1:20 – When did he first hear about Frozen 2?
  • 2:55 – How many voicemails has he left as Olaf?
  • 3:30 – Has he been contacted about the Frozen Broadway show?
  • 4:00 – How he’s getting ready to work with Bill Condon on his live-action Beauty and the Beast

The big surprise for me was that he hadn’t heard anything about Frozen 2 until that announcement a few weeks ago. While we all suspected Disney would make a sequel to one of the biggest films of all time, the fact that he hadn’t heard anything means they haven’t started recording the voices or the songs. It also means we are still far away from a release date. But I’m sure the studio is putting everything they have behind this movie and it wouldn’t surprise me if they announce a release date at D23 this summer.

For more on Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast (which has landed an incredible cast featuring Emma Watson as Belle, Kevin Kline as Belle’s father, Maurice, Dan Stevens as Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts), click here.

And if you haven’t watched The Comedians check it out on FX. While the conceit of a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a TV show has been done countless times before, what’s great about The Comedians is Crystal and Gad are willing to poke fun at themselves in a big way. Also, it’s pretty crazy to watch a show on FX about a show that might air on FX, and members of the real crew show up on the show within the show. For more read Chris’ review.
