Earlier this month, Disney revealed the long-awaited first look at Frozen 2, and while the teaser trailer was jam-packed with stunning imagery and set-piece teases, it sure was slight on plot details. We saw Elsa attempting to use her powers to master the ocean, glimpsed a new mystery character, an autumnal land, and possibly some new powers -- but it was a dialogue-free tease that opened up just as many questions as it answered.

However, according to a new report (h/t: /Film), we finally have one key detail. According to the folks at Fine Tooning podcast (who tend to know their stuff when it comes to Disney), the sequel “is about Anna and Elsa searching for what actually happened to their parents." As Jennifer Lee told Variety at the premiere of Ralph Breaks the Internet,  the sequel will be “bigger, more epic” than the first and the characters are "going to go far out of Arendelle.” Now, it seems we know why -- they're looking for answers!

Fans of the first film will remember than Anna and Elsa's parents died in a shipwreck, but maybe there's more to the story. It would be a great opportunity to dig into Disney's "dead parents" trope and do something new with it -- much like the first film re-investigated the prince charming myth. Fans looking for more answers should also inspect the official poster (see below), according to Josh Gad, who revealed some surprises were lying in wait for those who looked at the snowflake closely. Zoom in and you'll find four symbols in the spikes -- the same symbols seen mid-way through the trailer.

The four elements? The Gregorian seasons? Or maybe a new mythology entirely. No doubt we'll get some more hints as Frozen 2's November 22nd release date draws near. For more on Frozen, check out the links below followed by the official sequel logline.
