Since Disney and Pixar’s animated films are normally in development for so long, the animators have plenty of time to throw in a few Easter Eggs for each feature—a Pixar staple, for example, is hiding the Pizza Planet truck in every one of its films.  Walt Disney Animation’s latest effort, the excellent Frozen, is no exception.  Now that the film has been in theaters for a couple of weeks (dominating the box office, no less), Disney has released a few images showing some of the Easter Eggs that were hidden in the pic.  References to Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled, and even Mickey Mouse made it into the film.

Hit the jump to check out images highlighting the Easter Eggs, and if you haven’t yet seen Frozen, I highly encourage you to do so.  Not only does it have a compelling and fun story, but the songs are fantastic.

WELCOME TO ARENDELLE – Elsa’s coronation draws guests from far-away lands—and movies. From “Tangled,” Eugene Fitzherbert aka Flynn Rider and Rapunzel even made the guest list.

SWEET REPEAT – Anna’s affinity for chocolate summons sweet treats all the way from the land of Sugar Rush in “Wreck-It Ralph.”

IT’S A MOUSE! – Disney’s famous icon makes the quickest of cameos in “Frozen.” A small Mickey Mouse plush sits on one of the lower shelves in Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna.

REPURPOSED PAINTING – Artist Lisa Keene’s painting—completed during the development phase of “Tangled” and based on “The Swing” by Jean-Honoré Fragonard—made such an impression on “Frozen” filmmakers, it became part of Anna’s signature song, “For the First Time in Forever,” when she leaps into the air and mimics the painting’s pose.

Does anyone remember a few years ago when Disney said they were developing a movie that would “look like a painting”? Was that supposed to be Tangled?

    • Fahad Ali

Yep, you guess right. It was supposed to be Tangled.

That was in reference to the environment, I believe, and they nailed it!

No, actually it will be a movie about a Polynesian princess. It sounds really cool. It will look like the Paper Man short.

The resolution on these images are 2,048 × 858. What format is that? iPad?
