The new late night series Full Frontal with Samantha Bee will be sticking around through the end of the year, which is great news considering it has quickly become the best news-oriented comedy show on the air. Per Deadline, TBS has ordered an additional 26 episodes of the weekly series, bringing its total to 39 and ensuring that it’ll stay on the air through the duration of the 2016 Presidential Election. The Daily Show alum Samantha Bee hosts and executive produces the incisive, whip smart comedy series, which has gracefully filled the void left by Jon Stewart after his departure from the flagship Comedy Central series.

While Stewart’s successor, Trevor Noah, has done a fine job as the host of the revamped Daily Show, he lacks the anger, passion, and frustration that made Stewart’s iteration of the series so cathartic. John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight on HBO is swell, but its investigative reporting bent makes it a significantly different series than The Daily Show, with the lack of Stewart’s particular brand of comedy still being deeply felt.

Enter Samantha Bee, a Daily Show veteran who launched her own TBS series with the vigor, swagger, and yes, frustration, that was sorely needed. Bee has been knocking it out of the park week after week with belly laugh-inducing comedy, razor sharp satire, and a female point of view that has been wholly lacking in the male-dominated late night lineup. The show is absolutely one of the best on TV right now, regardless of genre or format, and I am mighty pleased to hear Bee will be sticking around. As a fan of the late night format, it’s been a delight to see the show hit a home run every single week, and I dare say the only downside to Full Frontal is that it’s not on every night.
