Last year, Netflix launched what ended up being a fairly polarizing reboot of the iconic family series Full House in Fuller House, riding the waves of nostalgia that has brought us innumerable other reboots and restarts in the past few years (of wavering quality). Though Netflix doesn't reveal its viewership numbers, it seems like Fuller House Season 1 was a pretty solid hit for them, at least succeeding in capturing the zeitgeist before and just after its premiere. I didn't care for it, mostly because I felt that it missed a huge opportunity to update the format of the series while still keeping the formula of love and laughter. Instead, crude jokes and humiliation-based storylines were a poor way to convey modernity in the series. But, plenty of people disagree!

Now, Netflix has finally revealed the premiere date for the return of the series, which will land on Friday, December 9th, as well as a new poster that plays up the heartwarming themes the show still is looking to capitalize on.

Fuller House brings back original cast members Candace Cameron Bure as D.J. Tanner-Fuller, Jodie Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner, Andrea Barber as Kimmy Gibbler, and Scott Weinger as Steve Hale, as well as newcomers Juan Pablo Di Pace as Fernando, Soni Nicole Bringas as Romona, Michael Campion as Jackson, Elias Harger as Max, Dashiell and Fox Messitt Twins as Baby Tommy, John Brotherton as Matt Harmon, and Ashley Liao as Lola.

Check out the official synopsis and the new poster below:

In the spinoff series, Fuller House, the adventures that began in 1987 on Full House continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure) recently widowed and living in San Francisco. D.J.'s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and D.J.'s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), along with Kimmy's feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.'s three boys the rebellious 12-year-old Jackson, neurotic 7-year-old Max and her newborn baby, Tommy Jr.
