At long last, the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere is just around the corner. HBO's beloved fantasy series is returning on April 24th and it's going off book now that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' TV adaptation has caught up to George R.R. Martin's long-running tome. How off book? Benioff recently stated the series diverges so far that book fans won't even have to worry about being spoiled. Truly in the dark for the first time, viewers are more eager to see what happens next.
The Khaleesi herself, Emilia Clarke, was on hand at CinemaCon where she chatted with Collider's Steve Weintraub about her upcoming tear-jerker Me Before You. The film stars Clarke as a cheery young woman who takes up a job as a caregiver to a wealthy, handsome young banker (Hunger Sam Claflin) who is now wheelchair-bound after a car accident left him paralyzed from the neck down. Clarke recalled some surprisingly upbeat memories from the set, and talked about whether or not she's still able to be incognito in public.
The actress also teased what fans can look forward to in Game of Thrones Season 6, including a wealth "record-breaking" action sequences:
This time we're not on the books, so that's huge, and they didn't hold any prisoners. This season, I truly believe it's the biggest thing that will have ever happened to anyone's individual TV set or laptop, or however you watch it. They're just going to blow up with all the stuff that's happening. Everybody has the biggest action piece thus far -- record-breaking action pieces!
