Arya Stark may be training to become a Faceless Man (or, rather, Woman), but she’s still a child at heart. Apparently, so is 19-year-old Maisie Williams. The Game of Thrones actress tried to prank a bunch of fans at the RPG store Aero Hobbies in Santa Monica, California, by pretending to be a clerk named Lorraine.
The problem was that she didn’t wear any prosthetics, makeup, or otherwise that would manipulate her appearance, so everyone definitely recognized her. But, even when the actress kept weaving in and out of her American accent, she maintained the fact that she was not the star everyone believed her to be.
This prank, which you can watch in the video below, was set up by Nylon Magazine and is also a testament to how far celebrities can push their fans. Williams asked some of the customers to screech and fly around the store like a dragon, and even an older woman did it. Others acted out their favorite scenes from the series, including Cersei’s walk of “Shame,” a Lannister incest scene, and Joffrey’s “Purple Wedding” moment.
Williams reprises her role of Arya in Game of Thrones season 6, which premieres this Sunday on HBO at 9 p.m. When last we left the lil’ tyke, she had disobeyed Jaqen H’ghar with her revenge scheme and paid the price for it. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress teased, “It’s too easy to kill her. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Game of Thrones it’s that death is the easy way out. They’re gonna keep her and make her have a shit time.”
It also looks like Williams is interested in expanding her acting horizons to the big screen. Her Game of Thrones sister Sophie Turner (a.k.a. Sansa Stark) portrays Jean Grey in Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and a report buzzed around the Internet claiming Williams was up for the role of Wolfsbane in the franchise’s New Mutants adaptation. The studio may have denied its validity, but the actress’ response made it seem there might be some truth to it.
